Every time software goes on fire sale, you can bet the new upgrade is looming. So is the case with Adobe<\/a>. They’ve been promoting 15% discounts through Feb 14 (2012) for any orders above $375. You can “get 20% off your order when you upgrade to a Creative Suite 5.5 individual product or suite edition.”<\/p>\n

But, as I’ve learned in the past, deep discounts almost always mean an upcoming upgrade release is looming. In a press release from April 2011, Adobe announced that the CS suite releases will become an annual event:<\/p>\n

“There will be one midcycle release during each cycle. So, once every 12 months there will definitely
\nbe a substantial release for CS<\/a>”<\/p>\n

I’ve been using CS3 for four years now. Do I upgrade to 5 now, hold out for 6 which is expected to arrive in a month or two, or hold out for Adobe’s new Cloud service “coming this spring”?\u00a0Adobe\u00ae Creative Cloud\u2122<\/a> seems like a great deal to me, especially for people like me that don’t need the latest and greatest every time it arrives. Yet it doesn’t look to have many of the proposed features out of the gate (most of the Master Suite apps are noted with a “*Planned for a future release”.<\/p>\n

Once I finally make a purchase decision, it usually always seems to be the wrong one. What to do, what to do…<\/p>\n
